Windows Journal is a notetaking application, created by Microsoft and included in certain editions of Windows XP and Windows Vista. It allows the user to create and organize handwritten notes and drawings. One can simply use an ordinary computer mouse to compose a handwritten note, though the use of a graphics tablet or a Tablet PC is recommended.

When first introduced, Windows Journal was only included with Windows XP Tablet PC Edition. Currently, it is also included in the Home Premium, Business, Enterprise and Ultimate editions of Windows Vista.

Windows Journal Viewer is an application, created by Microsoft, that allows for the viewing of files created in Windows Journal on systems without the software. The current version is 1.5 and is available for Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003.
