A man with a natural wedgie
A wedgie (also known as a snuggie, grundie, gotch pull, or mervin.) is having one's underwear or other garments "wedged" between the buttocks. This can occur naturally, due to tight garments or physical activity; this is referred to as the underwear "riding up". It can also be performed as a prank or as a form of bullying; this is referred to as "giving (a person) a wedgie".Wedgies, when performed by bullies, can cause incredible pain due to the position of the underpants.[1] Wedgies are commonly seen in popular culture for example on the popular American animated TV show The Simpsons.

- During the Eek! The Cat episode entitled 'RockEek VI', Eek! receives a wedgie from the referee.
- In The Simpsons, bullies Nelson, Jimbo, Kearney and Dolph usually give wedgies to smaller and nerdier kids, like Martin and Milhouse as well as Bart, who also uses the term 'Rear Admiral.'
- In the Malcolm in the Middle episode, "Krelboyne Picnic", Reese (Justin Berfield) is hung by his boxers on a wire fence by Eraserhead's older brother and also Malcolm and Reese torture Dewy with a hanging melvin to get the car keys
- In the Nickelodeon TeenNick show iCarly, wedgies feature frequently: Freddie (Nathan Kress) receives a wedgie from Sam (Jennette McCurdy)and shows his briefs ; Jonah (Sam's boyfriend) is given a hanging wedgie; and in the episode "iGot Detention", Gibby receives at least two "Texas" wedgies. The humor is found in the fact that his pants are smoking in the scene where he walks through the hallway, implying that the wedgie occurred quickly and frequently enough to create a great amount of friction (and therefore pain and smoke).

- In The George Lopez Show episode "George Nieces a New Media Room, George gives Max a wedgie when he is hitting on Veronica.
- In the Two and a Half Men episode "Back Off Mary Poppins", Charlie hugs Alan, and then reaches down and gives him a wedgie.In another episode,Alan hugs Charlie and tries to wedgie him, however when he finds out Charlie isn't wearing underpants Charlie remarks "I'm not wearing any underpants but thanks for scratching my ass!" Also, in the episode "I Have Always Wanted a Shaved Monkey", Alan claims that his brother gave him an atomic wedgie every day when they were kids.

- In the Danny Phantom episode "Splitting Images", Danny gives Dash an atomic wedgie and dumps frogs down his pants, while in another dimension in another ghost's body, Danny is given an atomic wedgie by a greaser. In Reign Storm, Dash hangs Danny on the Nasty Burger flagpole by his briefs.
- In the King of the Hill episode "Hilloween" Boomhauer is given a wedgie during the gang's first attempt at a flying ghost by having the rope attacted to the back of his jeans. As Boomhauer is picking his wedgie Bill states that he too has a wedgie and he starts picking along with Boomhauer.
- In Drake And Josh, Josh gets a wedgie at a local jail from a "lowlife scum".
- In "Total Drama Island", DJ states that he got a wedgie flop from landing butt first after jumping from a big diving board into the local pool. In "Basic Straining", Geoff gives Harold a ripping wedgie with a fishing pole.
