Hello there, I'm Ryan! I've been a Wikipedia reader and contributor since November 8, 2003, when I found the website while doing some research. My first edit was about Thaxted but it was a copyright violation and removed accordingly. There is no link available to see that old edit and even the old archived deletion log is visible only to administrators. As such, my first logged edit was about Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat. Theresa knott welcomed me on November 11.

My username originates from The Merovingian, but I like the Merovingians, too. The thing is, one time I took a quiz called something along the lines of "What Matrix Character Are You?" and I got The Merovingian; it sounded like a cool name. I've never even seen The Matrix.

I was eventually nominated for adminship by Raul654, and promoted by Angela on March 16, 2004; my nomination was approved, 18-0. I try to use the tools appropriately, but I am open for recall; you can view my logs here. I haven't served in any other official Wikipedia capacity, although I ran for the Arbitration Committee at least thrice. I've had some real good fun here, though. I prefer to think of Wikipedia as a hobby rather than a task, and I am always really optimistic about things. I can't remember who said it, but I agree that "every day above ground is a good day".

Sometimes I like to peruse random pages or recent changes, fixing little formatting things. Sometimes I'll get on a kick and to a series of related edits. I don't really mind how much I do; I just do it as I see fit. If you've got something you need help with, though, don't be afraid to ask! You can leave me a message or send me an e-mail. I'll try to respond when I can. I used to contribute to Wiktionary a bit, and I started the RuneScape Wiki way back when.

Generally, I favor inclusionism; I believe that factually correct and referenced articles always have a place on Wikipedia, and that relative notability of the subject comes secondary. I started the Association of Inclusionist Wikipedians, the first of several such Wikipedian groups dedicated to a particular philosophy. However, I'm not really active on it; the situation on Wikipedia has, for better or worse, changed. That is, Wikipedia has become more open for articles. We've got over two million anyways!

I'm pretty busy these days with work training, so I'm not as active as I once was. Somehow I've racked up more than 25000 edits, including over 2000 new articles. I feel like I have made a significant impact on the project for the time being, to say the least. I don't know where my life will take me, but I can assure you I'll always be a supporter of Wikipedia; it represents everything the Internet should be.

Thanks for visiting, and happy editing!
