Rajarajeswaram, also known as Brihadeshwara temple built by Chola emperor Rajaraja-I in early 11th Century AD at Thanjavore. Fully constructed with hard granite stones, the temple tower measures 216 feet. At the time of its construction, it was the tallest Hindu temple in the world

Tamil Nadu is known as the land of temples. Nearly 33000 ancient temples - many of which are at least 600 to 800 years old are scattered all over the land. Studded with complex architecture, variety of sculptures and rich inscriptions - these temples capture the very essence of the culture and heritage of the Tamil land, which is historically more than 2000 years old.
