[edit] Chandler

The last two thirds of this article are about "Chandler" instead of Grocer; I tried to remove them but the change got marked as vandalism. I promise it's not!! 68.53.74.128 (talk) 01:08, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Merge

It might be easier for readers if we combine the short article at Grocer on the person that own's a grocery store, with the actual business at Grocery store. The owner can be discussed briefly in a combined article at Grocer, with the potential for a separate article for Grocery store later if the combined article becomes too long or confusing. --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 10:55, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

This is not a good idea. A grocer is defined as an old-fashioned businessman who specializes in non-perishable foodstuffs. Grocery store has been expanded to generically cover many types of food stores from small operations to megastores. If one article is to be deleted, it should be grocer, who can be represented as a section within grocery store. --Zeamays (talk) 16:47, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

I take it you are in favor of the merge, but prefer the merged article to be called Grocery store.
Since grocers have been around for 600 years, and grocer is a generic name for the owner of a grocery store, market stall, barrow, or internet provisions delivery service, my vote is to call the combined article Grocer. Either way, if the user types in grocery store they will still get as comprehensive an article about all types of grocery stores as we can write.
