Kurrent is an old form of German handwriting based on late medieval cursive writing. It is known in full as Kurrentschrift or Alte Deutsche Schrift ("Old German script"). In American English, its name has been seen shortened to Schrift. A well-known, although very late form of it, is Sütterlin. It was taught in schools until 1941.
