Brian Harrison (historian)

Professor Sir Brian Harrison (b. July 9, 1937) was the editor of Oxford Dictionary of National Biography from January 2000 to September 2004 (succeeded by Lawrence Goldman) and Professor of Modern History in the University of Oxford. He is an Emeritus Fellow of Corpus Christi College, Oxford, he was appointed knight bachelor in the 2005 New Year's Honours, and he was elected a Fellow of the British Academy on July 30, 2005.

Harrison is the author of several works. His most recent publication project is a volume of the New Oxford History of England series covering British history from 1951 to the present. The work will be published in two volumes, the first part, Seeking a Role: The United Kingdom 1951-1970, is due to be released in February 2009.
