Bobby Jon Drinkard (born May 10, 1977) was a contestant on Survivor: Palau and Survivor: Guatemala. Bobby Jon is perhaps[who?] best known for being intensely competitive in challenges, which was presented on the show as being comically at odds with his normally polite and mild-mannered demeanor. Bobby Jon graduated from Troy University in Troy, Alabama, in 2003 with a degree in journalism. While at Troy, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Bobby Jon is currently the host and producer of a statewide television show broadcast in Alabama called On the Job. [edit] Survivor: PalauIn Survivor: Palau, Bobby Jon was a member of the ill-fated Ulong tribe. He was third contestant in Survivor: Palau to be eliminated without being voted out, and the 8th person to be eliminated without being voted out since Survivor's start in 2000. As of April 7, 2005, for the first time ever there was one person left in the Ulong tribe (Stephenie LaGrossa), after Ulong lost every single immunity challenge since the start of the show. When it was down to Bobby Jon and Stephenie, they went into an immunity challenge against Koror and lost for the eighth time. Because there were only two survivors left, when Ulong went to tribal council, Bobby Jon and Stephenie had to compete in a fire-building contest. Bobby Jon was eliminated because he wasn't fast enough. When he brought his torch to Jeff Probst to be snuffed, Probst said, "The tribe has definitely NOT spoken. Nonetheless, it's time for you to go." [edit] Survivor: GuatemalaBobby Jon and Stephenie LaGrossa were invited back as contestants on Survivor: Guatemala. He was the 11th person voted off, becoming the first member of the jury; a point he always wanted to reach. During this season, he and fellow competitor Jamie Newton engaged in a rivalry in their opposing tribes' challenges and during the individual immunity challenges. The two seemed to bury the hatchet when they were both on the jury, and are reportedly now good friends. [edit] On The JobOn January 20th, 2008, Bobby Jon became the second host of " On The Job" a weekly television show on Alabama Public Television. " On The Job" is a new television show with a twist, showcasing unique and often overlooked companies and educational opportunities in Alabama. On The Job provides an educational and informative outlet designed to give Alabama citizens a look at jobs available to them and the education and skills required to get these jobs and improve their lives. The show puts Bobby Jon as an "Everyman" in jobs across Alabama demonstrating some of the skills and educational requirements needed to get the jobs. So far he's been a firefighter, an EMT, a boat captain and a catfish farmer. The show airs Sunday afternoons at 2:30PM CT on Alabama Public Television. The show is also available online at http://www.onthejobtv.org. Hosted by Bobby Jon Drinkard, On The Job is produced by AIDT[1], Alabama’s Workforce Training Institute in cooperation with Alabama Public Television, America’s oldest public television network.
