The Australian National Basketball Team (nicknamed the Boomers) is the men's basketball side that represents Australia in international competitions, including the FIBA Oceania Championship, the FIBA World Championship, the Commonwealth Games, and the Games of the Olympiad. Selected by Basketball Australia, the team draws its players primarily from the country's domestic league, the National Basketball League, though it also has featured Australians playing in European leagues, the NBA and U.S. college basketball it ts ranked 6th in the world and finishing 7th in the olympics.
Several other sides are similarly-styled: the women's national team (named the Opals), the men's national teams for players aged under 21 and under 19 (the Crocs and Emus respectively), the women's national team for players aged under 21 and under 19 (the Sapphires and Gems respectively), and the wheelchair basketball men's and women's national teams (the Rollers and Gliders respectively).
