Ashmaka

Ashmaka or Ashmakadesa was one of the mahajanapadas of ancient India. Recently, both Ashmaka a Moolaka are identified by acheological excavations done in the Marathwada and Pune. Ashmaka comprises present day districts of Nizamabad, Adilabad districts of Andhra Pradesh, Yavatmal and Latur in Maharashtra and Bidar district in North East Karnataka while Moolaka is identified as Aurangabad ,Jalna and Nanded Districts.

Poudhanyapuri or Poudhanya is identified as capital of Ashmaka which is present day Bodhan near Nizamabad.
